Potassium Hydroxide

Technical Specifications

Potassium hydroxide (KOH) is a strong base and alkali that is commonly known as caustic potash.

It is commonly used as a thickener, stabilizer, preservative, and pH regulator in food and cosmetic products.

Potassium hydroxide is produced in two forms: solid flakes, which are white, odorless, and colorless, and liquid solutions. It is typically manufactured through the electrolysis of potassium chloride. While more expensive than sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide is valuable in products aimed at reducing sodium content. During the production of liquid potassium hydroxide, chlorine and hydrogen are also produced as by-products through the electrolysis process.
